How Long to Boil Quinoa Quinoa takes about 15 minutes to cook, plus a few minutes to bring the water to a boil. Start quinoa in cool water and keep it in there as you bring your pot to a boil. Once the water hits a rolling boil, lower the temperature, cover the pot, and let the quinoa soak in the simmering water for about 15 minutes, or until all of the water has disappeared. You can be sure that it's fully cooked when the quinoa looks like it has popped open and it has absorbed all of the liquid.
